Cubase started the whole VST Virtual Studio Technology in the 1990’s! I remember the first time I could record and mix an entire project on an old PowerPC Mac computer! Cubase has long since been a powerful cross-platform Mac and PC based digital audio workstation. The audio editing is smooth and the MIDI is quite mature. Pro Tools tends to handle audio very well. Logic Pro handles audio instruments and MIDI very well. Somewhere in between is Cubase handling both audio and midi nicely.
